I want to be able to watermark images as they are uploaded and I know I can do this myself with GD and PHP and then use the Ning API to import.

 

However this does not stop people mailing photos in direct or indeed just using Ning to upload this. 

 

A better solution would be for Ning to offer this feature?!

Unfortunately there isn't a way to disable the built-in uploaders. The best option right now is to create a custom uploader and use CSS/JavaScript to hide the built-in photo uploaders.
