Any news on when the API might be a little more useful and be able to access Forums, or update profile info? Is this being worked on at the moment?

Are there any workarounds - Devin suggested using the network archiver to get Jsons - can we tap into the feeds it uses? I'd love to display forum topics elsewhere, and have a viable mobile app...

I don't have an update on our API progress at the moment. In the mean time, I recommend using the built-in RSS feeds to display forum topics (assuming your site isn't private). You should find feeds for:

  • Latest forum posts
  • Latest featured forum posts
  • Latest comments feed for each forum topic
Thanks for the reply Devin. Sadly my site is private. Is there any way to authenticate the RSS feeds? E.g. could I use a username / password in the URL somehow, or could I use cURL to sign in, then retrieve the feed?
Unfortunately isn't not possible to access RSS feeds while the network is private. There isn't a good solution until we support it in the API. It's currently on our "to-do" list, but it isn't scheduled yet.
Thanks Devin. Is there any sort of roadmap / timetable for the API?
