Hi!

How can I check if a user has already a certain gift in his profile or not?

Currently the Ning API cannot access virtual gifts.

So I can provide as much information as possible to the team, what are you trying to accomplish by knowing if a member has received a particular gift?

We want to do an integrated hide & seek game and use the the gift/awards functionality to check if a user has a certain element in his profile to access certain levels of the game. If people are not skilled enough to acquire the targets the shall rely on their friends that they gift them the missing items.

If the API does not support accessing the gifts, is it possible to develop our own game gift store and also show the awards in the users profile?

You could use Ning Apps to build a gift application that has it's own tab and will appear on every profile page. Ning Apps let you access basic information about the member, including who their friends are. You host Ning Apps on your server and Ning renders it inside of your site. This allows you to build as complex of an application as you like in whatever server-side language like.

I read now the Ning App information and saw that the API is limited to maximum 500.000 calls per month. Why is this limit and what happens if I get to this limit?

I'm not sure where that 500,000 API call maximum is documented, can you send me the link?

In general, if an application does run into any limits we can work with you to make sure you application can keep running smoothly.

Its on the Ning API tab in the administration panel. I attach a marked screenshot for you.
