I see elsewhere in this forum that folks are working on an auth-sharing plugin for Drupal. Very cool.

I'm new to Ning development, and before I get too far with the approach I'm playing with I wanted to validate some of the basic things we want to do.

We want to build an app that will be specific to our Ning site (at least I can't imagine what anyone else will use it for, maybe I will think of a use later). In a nutshell it is an app for musicians to use when learning new pieces. There are several different content types (think "Piece", "Project", "Performance", "Instrument") that need to relate in very specific ways and don't have obvious analogues among the existing Ning objects (blogs, forum posts, images, videos, comments, etc.).

My thought was to build out these content types in Drupal and serve them up via REST to a Ning app. We would use the Ning API to link to photos, blogs, comments, and the other generic Ning services, but the type-specific content would remain our Drupal server.

Does seem like the correct approach more or less? Is there something obvious I'm missing?

Thanks in advance for any help,

That seems like a great approach. Ning Apps are the best way to add new features to your Ning Network while the Ning API is the best way to access your existing features.

Hi Hugh,

I have more or less the same doubt...

are you going on with your project?
