Adding a Profile App by URL

I would like to know if it is possibile to add an OpenSocial Profile App by URL, bypassing the Ning App Directory, as it is possibile for network level Ning Apps.

In fact, I need to develop several Apps for my network, for which the following holds:

- the Apps are intended to be used only by members of my network, thus there is no need to submit them to the Ning App Directory

- I would like each member to be free to decide which Profile App she/he wants to add to her/his profile page, if any (unlike profile views of network-level Apps, which are visibile by default on everybody's profile pages, as soon as they are created)

- I would like tabs not to be shown for these Apps on the navigation bar (in the same way as it is for Profile Apps added through the Ning App Directory)

Is there a way to meet the above objectives?
